Scentroid Proficiency Testing programs are statistical quality assurance programs. They enable laboratories to assess their performance in conducting test methods when data is compared against other laboratories that participate in the same worldwide program.
Odour laboratories that participate in the Scentroid Proficiency Testing program receive different samples of a controlled N-butanol mixture as a referent odorant. Upon completing the test, each laboratory submits their test data to Scentroid, who then issues the final summary report.
As part of laboratory quality assurance and control, Scentroid provides an internationally recognized program to prepare and screen panel assessors according to standard EN13725:2003. This is completed with the objective of obtaining a reliable sensor with specific qualities in order to be selected as a panel member. Panelists are formed through a comprehensive testing procedure to ensure the repeatability of their results. A certificate is issued after the completion of the training program if the panelist meets the criteria for an individual threshold estimate and the mean of the accepted reference value.
