Olfactometer is a device used to determine smell measurement; odor concentration, intensity, and hedonic tone. This is achieved by diluting a sample with odor-neutral air, which is then presented to a panel. It is important to note that an olfactometer should be operating within an odour-free environment so as to not to interfere with measurements. Materials used in olfactometers must be odor neutral such as stainless steel or PTFE.
