Scentroid Proficiency Testing programs are statistical quality assurance programs that enable laboratories to assess their performance in conducting test methods within their own laboratories when their data are compared against other laboratories that participate worldwide in the same program.

Odour laboratories that participates at the Scentroid Proficiency Testing program receive different samples of a controlled mixtures of N-butanol as a referent odorant. These laboratories performs the olfactometric test conducting their normal procedures at their facilities. Upon completing the test, each laboratory submits their test data to Scentroid that issues the final summary report.

The report contains
  • Participating laboratory’s test results (Laboratories are coded for confidentiality)
  • Statistical analysis of test data
  • Charts plotting test results versus laboratory code
  • Assessment of the precision within one laboratory (repeatability)
  • Assessment of the precision between laboratories (reproducibility)
